From: Kimberly McDaniel Sent: Tuesday, January 29, 2002 6:32 AM Subject: What is Emily doing this month? Emily's development is coming along. Right now she's really into exploring things with her hands and then shoving whatever she's holding into her mouth. She's not teething yet, but it may not be long. She had her 4-month check-up on the 15th of January. John took half a day off so he could go with us. We didn't see her regular Pediatrician, but this doctor gave us her opinion on starting solids...wait until six months. I'm still nursing Emily and she is doing so well that there's no rush to introduce solids; they can wait until she's six-months. After her doctor's appointment her Dad took her in to get her second set of shots. He was so proud that she barely cried. It's a totally different story whenever you try to get professional photos of her. I tried twice to get some nice pictures of her by herself but every time I set her down she started slinging attitude. As soon as I picked her up she was fine. I guess I'll have to wait until she's a bit older...back to development. Emily can roll from back to front at will and has even rolled from front to back a time or two, she did this before she was 4-months. She is desperately trying to get into a sitting position when you lie her on her back...it's funny to watch a baby do crunches. She enjoys being held in a standing position and being snuggled (my favorite). John is very adept at getting her to squeal in delight (another one of my favorites). She's really into her feet too. I think that covers about everything. Next month the Home nurse from base will come visit and we'll go over development again. Take care, Kim, John, Little Em and Carob
